Govtoday and Securing the Future are delighted to be hosting the 4th Annual National Sustainable Transport Conference, Unlocking the door-to-door journey, in association with Sustrans, Passenger Focus and the British Parking Association which will be held on Thursday 3rd October at the Brewery, The City of London.
‘Creating Growth, Cutting Carbon: Making Sustainable Local Happen’, the Government’s White Paper of 2011, set the nation on the path to a transport system that was greener, safer, improved community life and was an engine for economic growth.
The White Paper placed localism at the heart of its measures, and with the financial backing of the Local Sustainable Transport Fund created a significant step forward in the way transport was not only perceived but utilised.“Helping people use greener modes of transport will help create growth and cut carbon, easing congestion on our roads and encouraging people to opt for greener, healthier options. But to make that happen we need low carbon travel to become as easy as jumping into the car.
“Norman Baker MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for transportUnlocking the door-to-door journey will evaluate the progress since the publication of ‘Creating Growth, Cutting Carbon’, examine the success and implementation of projects funded by the Local Sustainable Transport Fund and explore the latest strategy from the Department of Transport: ‘Cleaner, greener transport, door to door’.
