This event will investigate how the e-navigation concept and the evolution of GMDSS affect marine radiocommunication and navigation standardization in the mid/long term, taking also into account future requirements in terms of capacity/rate for data transmission as well as security aspects which are essential for improving maritime safety.

Eusebiu Catana and Peter Schmitting, ERTICO-ITS Europe, will present the AEOLIX project and the benefits its platform could have for the future of marine communication.
