ERTICO will join the New Mobility Congress 2026 in Katowice (KNM 2026), Poland from 23 to 25 September, bringing the perspective of the ITS community to one of Poland’s leading events on the future of mobility.
Taking place at the International Congress Centre (MCK), KNM is one of Central and Eastern Europe’s leading events dedicated to sustainable development and new mobility. The 2026 edition is expected to bring together thousands of decision makers, industry leaders, public authorities, researchers and innovators to exchange perspectives on the transformation of mobility, cities and the wider economy through discussions, workshops, presentations and an extensive exhibition.
Connecting mobility with wider transformation
With more than 600 speakers, 12 stages and eight thematic tracks, the Congress will explore how new technologies are shaping the future of transport, cities and society, this year’s programme places mobility within a broader economic, technological and societal transformation. Sessions will span new mobility and transport, cities and urban innovation, energy and infrastructure, climate policy and health, security and resilience, economic development and investment, architecture and construction, and deep tech.
The discussions closely connect with priorities across the ERTICO Partnership, from sustainable and connected transport to digitalisation, resilient infrastructure and the deployment of new mobility solutions.
ERTICO will contribute to these discussions through the participation of CEO Joost Vantomme and Chairman Dr Angelos Amditis.
On 24 September from 12:50 – 13:05, Joost Vantomme will deliver the keynote “From Infrastructure to Intelligence: The Next Era of Intelligent Transport Systems” as part of the Cities and Urban Innovation track.
Cities have invested for decades in roads, public transport, sensors and connected infrastructure. The next step is to make the wider urban mobility system intelligent. In his keynote, Joost will explore how AI, real time data, digital twins and connected vehicles can help cities move from reacting to congestion and disruption to anticipating demand and managing mobility in real time.
The discussion will highlight how ITS can evolve from infrastructure that connects mobility into an intelligent ecosystem that supports safer, cleaner, more efficient and more seamless journeys. It will also consider how digitalisation and electrification can work together to create more responsive and integrated urban mobility systems.
Later that day, Dr Angelos Amditis will join the high-level panel “Ideal Balance for Public and Private Funds – When Does the Market Pick Up the Pace?”, taking place from 12:35 to 13:35 on the New Mobility Stage.
The session will examine how public and private investment can support the transformation towards new and sustainable mobility, including the role of European funding instruments in accelerating innovation and strengthening Europe’s mobility ecosystem. Angelos Amditis will bring ERTICO’s perspective on how technology, transport systems, innovation and investment need to come together to turn ambitious mobility goals into real world impact.
The New Mobility Congress will also provide an opportunity for ERTICO to connect with partners and stakeholders from across the mobility, energy and technology sectors, while sharing insights from its work across European projects, ITS innovation and the wider mobility ecosystem.
Meet the us in Katowice and join the conversation on the next era of intelligent and connected mobility.
