MACBETH
Impact
MACBETH aims to accelerate the electrification of long-haul freight via megawatt charging hubs (MCS), support Europe's transition to zero-emission road freight transport. The project tackles technical, social, and economic challenges of deploying MCS and deliver solutions that lower costs, reduce emissions, and create jobs in sustainable logistics.
Objective
- Demonstrate real-world multipoint MCS hubs in Sweden and the Netherlands
- Establish a scalable framework for interoperable high-power charging.
- Develop advanced grid strategies to minimize grid impact
- Integrate MCS hubs for both light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles along key corridors
- Create tools & recommendations for scaling up MCS infrastructure
- Optimise placement of charging hubs based on diverse user needs
- TRL 8 multipoint megawatt charging hub concepts ready for market
- Tools, guidelines, and best practices for scaling up across Europe
- Business models and operational strategies for efficient, user-friendly HDV charging
- Integration of innovative technologies like robotic charging and adaptive algorithms
