The Global Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) Observatory is now live on the CAD Knowledge Base, providing a new reference point for monitoring developments across the global connected and automated mobility ecosystem.
Implemented by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in close cooperation with the European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD), the Observatory has been designed as a science-based and neutral hub to map and analyse worldwide progress in CCAM technologies and services.
The Observatory focuses particularly on private-sector developments across the full CCAM technology stack, offering insights into emerging trends, technology readiness, market dynamics, and Europe’s competitive positioning in the global landscape.
Hosted on the CAD Knowledge Base platform maintained by CCAMbassador, the Observatory further strengthens the platform’s role as a trusted information source for the European CCAM community and the European Commission.
The Observatory combines public data analysis with on-site validation activities, including field visits and structured exchanges with technology and service providers. It currently tracks:
- 1,335 ecosystem participants
- 44 countries
- 123 services
- 937 suppliers
Among its key objectives are identifying Europe’s competitive strengths, highlighting strategic gaps and opportunities, showcasing emerging technologies and their readiness levels, and supporting evidence-based decision-making for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the research community.
