Yunex Traffic has successfully launched its first Yutraffic awareAI installation in Belgium, marking a significant milestone in smart mobility for safer roads. This AI-enabled solution provides autonomous traffic counting and classification without the need for a power grid connection, making it ideal for temporary or remote setups.
The Flemish Brabant Roads and Traffic Agency (Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer Flemish Brabant), faced rush-hour blockages at a busy intersection and needed reliable data to improve traffic planning. To address this, Yunex Traffic deployed its mobile, AI-enabled Yutraffic awareAI solution, providing accurate traffic counts and blockage detection without grid connection.
The battery-powered Yutraffic awareAI unit delivers actionable insights for optimized traffic planning. Equipped with a battery pack, it can be deployed anywhere, providing vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian counts and detecting intersection blockages. This flexibility helps customers address congestion challenges quickly and efficiently, while ensuring GDPR compliance.
The solution offers several key benefits for effective and responsible traffic monitoring:
- Flexibility: Mobile, battery-powered setup for quick deployment anywhere, even without grid access
- Efficiency: AI-enabled counting and classification of vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians for actionable insight
- Scalability: Ideal for temporary studies or as a step toward permanent installations connected to controllers
- Compliance: GDPR-proof data handling for responsible traffic monitoring
- Impact: Improves road safety by reducing intersection blockages and enabling better traffic planning
This initial rollout is part of a broader vision to integrate Yutraffic awareAI with controllers in permanent installations. For now, the mobile solution offers fast, flexible deployment for short-term projects.
“With Yutraffic awareAI, we’re proving that intelligent, camera‑based detection can make intersections safer, mobility more efficient, and urban planning more data‑driven. It’s a powerful example of how innovation can create immediate, real‑world impact for road users and for the cities we support,” said Hans Ruysscher, Managing Director at Yunex Traffic Belgium.
