Across Europe, cities are rethinking mobility. Engineers are testing breakthrough solutions, and policymakers are driving an ambitious agenda for resilience, digitalisation, and sustainability. Meanwhile, the European Commission and national governments are advancing ambitious transport frameworks. These are not abstract policies; they offer a founding basis to urgent questions on how Europe remain resilient, digital, connected, and sustainable. This is where the ITS European Congress brings in its unique added value of convening public and private stakeholders to connect, explore and exchange knowledge that translates into real-world solutions and services.
During the Congress, the Technical Programme, with over 100 research papers and technical sessions, provides a milestone to build on this momentum. By submitting proposals to present insights from projects, research, or pilot use cases, Congress attendees connect vision with practice to help shape the future of Europe’s transport systems.
Europe's public-private event on Intelligent Transport
As one of the largest European events for smart mobility, Congress attendees convene and explore collaboration and innovation in action. During the events, a city’s pilot project sparks an engineer’s breakthrough; a researcher’s model influences policymaking; and a student’s idea opens new perspectives.
In the lead-up to the Istanbul Congress next year, 27-29 April, Europe's focus on resilience and competitiveness could not come more timely. As President von der Leyen described in the State of the Union address, Europe is in its “Independence Moment”. Resilience, sovereignty, and competitiveness in clean and digital technologies are top priorities, and the Congress is placed at the perfect time to bring those ambitions into the real-world discussions.
"Together with EU institutions, industry stakeholders and cities, we are ready to translate this agenda into tangible solutions for Europe's citizens," comments ERTICO CEO, Joost Vantomme.
From Vision to Everyday Practice
At the heart of the Congress stands ERTICO’s Vision 2035: a Europe-wide, user-centric transport system that is sustainable, safe, efficient, and resilient. This vision translates into practice through:
- Research papers on the role of Artificial Intelligence and data on improving urban environments
- Sessions exploring how green freight corridors are transforming logistics operations
- Live exhibition demos with cross-border digital highways that make seamless travel possible
The strength of the Congress lies in the diversity of its contributors
Amongst many of the attendees, public authorities, represented at all levels (local, national and regional), present strategies that show how cities and regions are adapting, researchers explain evidence, models and insights that turn ideas into knowledge, and expert engineers showcase practical solutions and services that prove the possibilities of ambitious innovations in action, and at scale.
Each perspective matters because no one holds all the answers. The richness comes from contributions combining into something bigger.
Why Contribute?
By submitting proposals to be part of the Technical Programme, your work becomes part of a dialogue with policymakers, peers, and innovators shaping Europe’s transport systems. This is more than a stage; it is a collaborative process where each perspective adds value to the future of mobility.
Your work doesn’t disappear into a journal or a report. It becomes part of a dialogue with peers, policymakers and innovators from across Europe and beyond. And in Istanbul, it becomes visible to the networks that will shape Europe’s mobility systems in the years ahead.
