SMARTIN
Smart digital solutions for multimodal, accessible, resilient, user-centric urban infrastructure
Impact
Europe’s transport system is under pressure from congestion, ageing infrastructure and the need to cut emissions. Digitalisation offers a way forward. The SMARTIN project aims to transform how transport infrastructure is managed and maintained across Europe. By combining real-time data, AI-driven analytics and predictive tools, SMARTIN helps detect incidents early and optimise maintenance and operation to streamline urban mobility. Its solutions will be tested in four European cities, showcasing how digital tools can enhance accessibility, resilience and multimodality. With SMARTIN, Europe moves closer to a transport system that is safer, smarter and more sustainable for all.
Objective
Develop a performance assessment framework and knowledge-based navigator to evaluate efficiency, safety, sustainability and accessibility of transport infrastructure.
Enable holistic monitoring with AI-driven tools that combine static, dynamic and real-time data for predictive maintenance and early detection of deterioration.
Advance integrated infrastructure management through generative AI models and decision-support systems for network performance and proactive response planning.
Promote multimodality and inclusiveness with user-centric, data-driven solutions for space management, demand forecasting and equitable access to digital mobility services.
