Under the Danish Presidency of the EU, the AI Board convened on Friday, October 24th, for a key session focused on accelerating the implementation of the recently adopted Apply AI Strategy and the landmark AI Act.
The European Commission officially presented the Apply AI Strategy, providing updates on initiatives like AI Factories and AI Gigafactories. This presentation sparked a strategic discussion with Member States on the practical steps needed to foster the cross-sectoral adoption of trustworthy AI throughout the EU. AI board Members exchanged on the progress and national challenges in rolling out the AI Act, leading to a productive dialogue on necessary support measures from the Commission to fast-track its national deployment.
“Artificial intelligence is becoming the backbone of tomorrow’s transport systems,” says Vladimir Vorotovic, Director of Strategy & Innovation. “The EU’s Apply AI Strategy and AI Act set a clear direction for building trustworthy, transparent, and human-centric AI. Through our recent White Paper on Artificial Intelligence in Transport, ERTICO guides responsible AI adoption in connected, cooperative, and automated mobility, ensuring that innovation and ethics move forward hand in hand.”
The Commission also outlined immediate priorities regarding the implementation of the AI Act, including preparations for the Digital Omnibus, promoting the AI Act Service Desk, and launching the Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-generated Content and associated guidelines. Members were further updated on global AI developments and the first months of applying the AI Act’s rules for general-purpose AI models since August 2025.
