I would like to inform you about an upcoming hearing in the European Parliament on “Road Transport in the era of new technologies”, Tuesday 26 April 15.00 to 17.30.

Please kindly note that Eric Sampson has been invited to give evidence and answer questions and he proposes to include the following key messages:
- Support the Amsterdam declaration calling for a common European strategy on connected and automated driving
- Support for a Hybrid Communication Approach to provide all future C-ITS and Automation services in a secure and robust way achieving the necessary latency and data capacity requirements
- Open data to support Mobility as a Service
- The need for a large scale demonstration project of connected and automated vehicles in Europe to support consistent and effective deployment
- More trials of highly automated freight vehicles eg the Platooning Challenge of the Dutch EU Presidency
- That Connected vehicles [C-ITS] are here now and can deliver substantial benefits
- We need to develop pathways to high automation via connected vehicles
