Dear Partners,

Building on the successful iHeERO and EIP CEF projects, ERTICO office has supported four Member States (lead: Rijkswaterstraat (RWS), MEDDE, Flemish Department of Mobility and Public Works, UK Department of Transport) in the development of a study project under the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) – Transport call.

We are immensely excited to see 4 Member States cooperating on C-ITS corridors in one common proposal and we were very grateful for the opportunity to support the work on the proposal as ERTICO office. We are convinced that, if the proposal will be accepted by the European Commission, there will be many opportunities in the future for the ERTICO Partnership to actively support this project.

InterCor is a 3 year study of 30 million euro and is coordinated by RWS. InterCor aims to streamline and pilot selected ‘Day I services’ in 4 Member States and to facilitate first assessment of C-ITS services on freight and logistics related to traffic management building on a common hybrid communication architecture and taking into account commonly agreed specifications from existing C-ITS corridors first results. To enhance a large scale deployment of cooperative services this project study builds further on the facilities and knowledge of the French ‘SCOOP@F’ and the (Dutch) ‘Cooperative-ITS corridor Rotterdam-Frankfurt-Vienna’ and also local pilot deployments like CIP COMPASS4D and CIP CO-GISTICS.

By implementing this study and pilot activities, the project responds to the policy targets of the 2010/40/EU Directive and also TEN-T priorities, and support upcoming harmonization work as part of the C-ITS platform steered by the European Commission and other fora –  by progressing the development and implementation of cooperative ITS in Europe.

ERTICO office will act as Technical & Interoperability Coordinator of the study and assist RWS in the coordination role for the day to day project management of the project.

As Technical & Interoperability Coordinator ERTICO is linking to its broad range of partnership activities, (on-going C-ITS pilots implementations and operations (COMPASS4D, CO-GISTICS) ; and innovation & deployment platforms (TM 2.0, TISA, Digital Transport Infrastructure (Hybrid Communication) and Mobility as a service (MaAS) Alliance. This is a great opportunity for ERTICO partnership to contribute to this large scale implementation as a test track for all innovation & deployment platforms discussions, thus paving the way from connected to automated driving.

In the context of the ERTICO office, I would like to thank Lina Konstantinopoulou for her excellent work having been very well supported by Maria Afsar and Francois Fischer.
